It’s very rare that the Perkiomen is runnable in July. However, this is the lucky week! Those who have joined Take It Outdoors Adventures on the Perkiomen Creek before, know what a great trip it is. A smaller waterway than what adventure group usually paddles this time of year, the narrow woodlined banks make you feel isolated and offer a great chance to spot wildlife. Meanwhile the creek itself will keep you interested with its often riffles and many turns. A portage or two may be expected, but are short and easily managed.

Take it Outdoors Adventures will meet at the takeout point (Perkiomen Trail Parking Area on Rahn’s Rd) at 9:15am, load boats and gear onto the trailer, get into the van and head to the put-in. After several fun miles of paddling, the group will stop for lunch near Spring Mountain, then head back onto the water for another great paddle to the take out.

Cost; $55- includes: shuttle service, on water guides with first aid certifications, and logistics of trip.

Cost w/rental: $100- includes: all listed above plus kayak, paddle and pfd.

What to bring: a change of clothes in a dry bag, a packed lunch, plenty of water and a waterproof camera to take a few pictures.
